A Discoverer connection contains login details that enable you to connect to Discoverer.

Use this page to create or update the Discoverer login details in a Discoverer connection. For example, you might want to create a connection that uses an alternative End User Layer (EUL).

Connection Details

Use these fields to enter a connection name, description, and locale details.

Connect To

Use this drop down list to select the application being used to connect to Discoverer as follows:

• OracleBI Discoverer

  Use this option to create or update connection details that are required to connect to a relational data source.

• Oracle Applications

  Use this option to create or update connection details that are required to connect to an Oracle Applications data source.

• OracleBI Discoverer for OLAP

  Use this option to create or update connection details that are required to connect to a multidimensional data source.

Name

Use this field to enter a name for the new connection. This name is displayed on the Connections page and is used to identify the login details stored in the connection.

Description

Use this field to enter additional information about the new connection. This information is displayed in the Description column on the Connections page, and it helps users choose a connection.

Locale

Use this drop down list to specify the language to use when opening this connection.

User Name

Use this field to enter a username. For example, pchan.

The Discoverer manager should be able to provide you with a username.

Password

Use this field to enter the password for the above username. For example, 37463823.

The Discoverer manager should be able to provide you with a password.

Note: This field is not displayed when the following conditions apply:

• you select Oracle Applications from the Connect To drop down list

• OracleAS Single Sign-On is enabled for Discoverer

• the Connection supported setting is set to TRUE in Oracle Application Server Control

Change Password

Use this button when you want to change the database password for the above username. Discoverer displays the "Change database password page".

Note: This button is not displayed if you are using an Oracle Applications, or OLAP connection.

Database

Use this field to enter the database name. For example, mycompanydatabase or <host>:<port>:<sid> for OLAP connections.

Apply

Use this button to apply the connection details that you have entered on this page.
